A graduate of the Choir Department of the Leningrad Institute of Culture, Blagoder worked at the Leningrad Theater of Young People and at the Youth Theater in the Fontanka as concertmaster and pedagogue of vocal. He was musical chief of almost all performances of the latter theater since its foundation. He worked in cooperation with leading directors of Saint-Petersburg: V. Malyshchitsky, Ye. Padve, S. Spivak,   A. Galibin, V. Tumanov, T. Kazakova, G. Kozlov, and others.  Since 2001, Ivan Blagoder serves at the Chair of vocal and musical education at St. Petersburg State Academy of theater, teaches disciplines of solo singing and vocal ensembles. Since 2004, he is Head of the Chair of musical education. He initiated and became the leader of “The Singing Mask” – an annual International vocal competition of higher musical schools’ students (2005 - 2006). He cooperated with the Alexandrinsky Theater since 1995; he directed musical part of more than two tens of the theater’s performances. He is laureate of the top theatric awards: “The Golden Mask” and “The Golden Soffit.” Since 2003, he is Musical Director of the Alexandrinsky Theater.
